A Weekend of Creativity and Fun

This past weekend, Quarry Avenue Salon transformed into a scene straight out of Versailles—if Versailles had a neon sign and a flair for the theatrical! We had the absolute honor of hosting a two-day wig cage building class, led by a Las Vegas-based wig-making specialist. Their work turns heads (literally) and defies gravity!

The theme? Think Marie Antoinette meets futuristic drag couture! Using millinery wire as our base, we learned how to construct oversized, sculptural wig cages reminiscent of 18th-century French court fashion—only bigger, bolder, and way more fun. These towering creations were covered in wigs—some pastel, some powdered, all fabulously decadent. They were accessorized with curls, rolls, and height that would make the Queen herself say, "Let them wear wigs!"

The Hidden Surprise

But the real showstopper? Each wig cage featured a hidden door, seamlessly built into the hair. With a gentle tug or twist, the cage would open to reveal a secret compartment—perfect for storing lipstick, candy, love letters, or even a tiny bottle of champagne (if you’re feeling très extra).

A Creative Space for Artists

The two days were pure magic! Between the wire bending, teasing, pinning, and giggling, the salon became a vibrant space for artists to gather, share, and bring wild ideas to life. Everyone left with a one-of-a-kind wearable sculpture, a head full of inspiration, and a heart full of joy.
