Quarry Avenue Hosts Freelance Networking event

Updated: Dec 2, 2024

On a sparkling evening in Sydney’s CBD, Quarry Avenue Salon played host to Freelance Fusion Sydney, an indie networking event designed to empower, unite, and inspire the freelance hairdressing community. Spearheaded by our very own Carolyn Jayun, owner of Quarry Avenue and 2024 HotShots mentor, the sold-out event was a celebration of small business, creativity, and collaboration.

A Vision for Indie Hairdressers

Freelance Fusion was born from Carolyn’s passion for connecting like-minded individuals in the hair industry. The event brought together a diverse group of indie hairdressers to share business insights, marketing strategies, tech support, and product knowledge—all while fostering an environment of mutual support and innovation.

“This was about more than just networking,” Carolyn shared. “It was about celebrating the unique challenges and triumphs of small businesses and freelancers in our industry.”

The Perfect Mix of Expertise

The event featured an incredible panel of speakers who each brought unique perspectives to the evening:

  • Hayley Mears (@haylsmears): The founder of Six Underground Media captivated the crowd with her expert advice on leveraging social media and marketing strategies to grow an independent brand.

  • @dumblonde_hair: With nine years of freelance experience and a background as a salon owner, she inspired attendees with her journey of independence and resilience.

  • Carolyn Jayun (@carolynjayun): As the host and visionary behind Freelance Fusion, Carolyn shared her wealth of experience in salons, chair rentals, and running a hybrid space that’s as colourful as it is innovative.

  • Raph Veron (@raph.veron): The co-founder of Muse Avenue, an app connecting freelancers with spaces, hosted the evening with his insight into the future of the freelance industry.

Powered by Partnerships

The event was made possible thanks to the support of JOICO Australia & New Zealand, a longtime partner of Carolyn Jayun, and Muse Avenue, whose app aligns perfectly with the freelance-focused ethos of the evening.

Mocha Group in Attendance

Mocha Group was also on hand to support this groundbreaking industry event, reinforcing their commitment to the individuals, brands, and businesses that make the freelance hairdressing community thrive.

A Night to Remember

With its vibrant mix of speakers, attendees, and industry supporters, Freelance Fusion was more than an event—it was a movement. Guests left with fresh ideas, renewed motivation, and a deeper connection to the indie hairdressing community.

A huge thank you to everyone who attended, supported, and shared in this magical evening. The success of Freelance Fusion proves one thing: together, we can create something truly extraordinary.
